Moving on to 3rd Grade :)
Thank you for sharing your child with me this year. It is amazing how unique and special each person is. The growth we saw this year is great! The students had the opportunity to check out their writing from the beginning of the year to the end of the year and they were astonished at how "different" it looked.
Next year will bring challenges for some of our class. Class sizes will be larger and the needs are still great for students. I have offered math packets for extra practice to go home. Please encourage your child to continue to find a few moments everyday to work on addition facts, subtraction facts and multiplication facts. My blog will be up through the summer. I will put a few more links on to assist in building automaticity with math facts. These skills are necessary for a successful year in 3rd grade.
The public library is once again offering a summer program. Reading everyday is essential to help build strategies and fluency. Your child will be taking the MEAP next year and the test is done independently. This year we discovered that reading directions and understanding what is asked has been difficult. Any assistance you can give to your child with reading a variety of materials will be an added bonus.
